Any who can attend regular weekend rehearsals (Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 2pm) from this weekend until the event are welcome to audition. There are roles for both combatants and non-combatants! Below is a brief synopsis and character breakdown for your perusal.
The Story
The wedding has been hastily arranged, and the two are nearly bound in unholy matrimony when Sir Cedric, Lady Aurelia’s true love, and his knights unveil themselves all around the tavern and charge Lord Urster and his guards.
There is a brief fray before a voice bellows through the din and the tavern is quelled into silence. It is one of the owners of the tavern, and s/he has had quite enough. Determined to put a full stop to the brawling over Lady Aurelia, the owner proposes a tournament. “Winner gets the girl,” says Lord Urster. And so it begins.
The Characters
♂ Door - Door is in charge of the money and making sure people find their seats. He’s a man of single-minded purpose: to host a well-run feast with as few hiccups as possible. Door mans the door, and Door means business.
THE BAD GUYS |
THE GOOD GUYS |
♂ Lord Urster - The cruel and wicked Lord Urster rules over his lands with an iron fist. Lord Urster can’t turn down a fight and relishes the opportunity to lie or cheat his way to victory. Though he may not love Lady Aurelia, per se, Lord Urster certainly desires her beauty and her riches, both reason enough to kidnap her and force her to wed him. |
♀ Lady Aurelia - Strong, stubborn, and clever, Lady Aurelia is a woman who knows her mind and her worth. As the heir of her family’s considerable lands and fortune, she is a desirable match for many a noble in the land, but her heart belongs to Sir Cedric. Her sister, Lady Joan, is also an important person in her life, and her worst fear is that she’ll lose her like she lost her parents. |
♂ Sir Samael - As Captain of the Guard, Sir Samael is the right hand of Lord Urster, and he is nearly as nasty as his lord. If one didn’t know better, one might mistake his ever-present grin and particular fetish for bloody deeds for a certain joie de vivre. Sir Samael is a loyal henchman and ruthless leader who holds a grudge. It’s better to stay on his good side -- if he has one, that is. |
♂ Sir Cedric - The hero’s hero, Sir Cedric is a respected knight and all-around good guy. Though he can be a bit foolhardy, Sir Cedric pours his whole heart into everything he does. Lady Aurelia is the undisputed love of his life, and he is a fiercely loyal friend to his fellow knights, especially his best friend Sir Warner. If anyone was going to rescue a damsel in distress, it would be Sir Cedric. |
♂ Jack Mote - There’s not much going on in Jack’s head, but if he knows anything, it’s that he’s angry. Jack doesn’t have much of a fighting style; he’s more the bash-into-oblivion type than anything else. Sabrina, one of Jack’s fellow guards, is the only one who can keep him calm. |
♂ Sir Warner - Sir Warner has been Sir Cedric’s best friend since they were kids. Nearly as good with a sword as Sir Cedric and even better with a staff, Sir Warner spends his time gallivanting around the land with his fellow knights, keeping the peace and performing good deeds. |
♀ Sabrina - Quick on her feet and with wit as sharp as her knives, Sabrina was hired on to be a guard by Sir Samael after years working as an assassin. She’s keeps her distance from the other guards for the most part, except for her strange relationship with Jack Mote. |
♀ Lady Joan - The younger sister of Lady Aurelia, Lady Joan insisted on accompanying the other ladies and knights on their rescue mission. Her sister is the most important person in the world to Lady Joan, especially after their parents’ death. |
♂ Crow Connelly - Brother of Raven, Crow is one of Lord Urster’s most loyal guards. Crow can usually be found either palling around with Hitchcock or his sister. He is a brutal brawler with a strange quirk: Crow collects knock-knock jokes. |
♂ Sir Barrett - The son of a blacksmith, Sir Barrett was elevated to knighthood for his bravery in battle. He’s seen some pretty horrible things in his life, but that doesn’t stop him from being a great friend and a imperturbable optimist. |
♀ Raven Connelly - Sister of Crow, Raven has just recently joined him as a guard in Lord Urster’s employ. With her love of blades and freakish ferocity, Raven fits in with the guards perfectly. |
♀ Lady Bright - Though as ladylike as they come, Lady Bright’s skill with a sword cannot be questioned. She and Lady Aurelia are great friends, and so Lady Bright was keen to come along on the rescue mission and lend a hand. |
♂ Hitchcock - A guard and good friend of Crow’s, Hitchcock must hide his crush on Raven or risk losing his friendship (and head) to Crow. Hitchcock is a creepy guy, generally disheveled and greasy. His appearance works in his favor, however, as his opponents often underestimate him in a fight. |
♂ Sir Christopher - Sir Christopher likes to fight with his bare hands, though he can use a sword in a pinch. He loves a good laugh and a good feast even better, and there’s no one Sir Christopher would rather share either with than his good friends and fellow knights. |
♀ Anne - A former hunter caught poaching deer on Lord Urster’s land, Sir Samael had Anne pardoned from her death sentence on the condition that she join his guard. Anne isn’t afraid of anything, and she’d kill anyone who even looked sideways at Sir Samael, who she views as her savior. |
♀ Lady Krea - Lady Krea is a knight in everything but name. She trains with the rest of the knights and fights alongside them, totally accepted as one of their own. Smart, brave, and talented with weapons, she is determined to gain the title of “Sir” one day. |
♂/♀ Percy/Mercy of Wimbleworth - A wedding planner for hire, Percy/Mercy has been employed by Lord Urster to throw together some decorations for his wedding. Unfortunately, Lord Urster hates everything Percy/Mercy suggests and Percy/Mercy thinks Lord Urster is the absolute worst. Still, Percy/Mercy is determined to make this wedding magical -- for better or for worse. |
♂ Hutch - He’s not a knight -- YET -- but there’s no better squire in the land. Hutch is a sweet young man, though perhaps a bit overeager. The knights all try to teach him and include him as much as possible, for which Hutch is eternally grateful. |
