Our show, directed by Ric Garcia with fight direction by E.J. Younes, featured a retiring pirate captain and a tournament for which of the crew would take her place in the top spot. Filled with stunts, surprises, and stage combat, and played by a cast of silly sea-faring characters, this show brought delight to audience members of all ages in the Orlando Community! |

WHERE: The Alachua County Fairgrounds, Gainesville, Florida FACEBOOK PAGE The Hoggetowne Medieval Faire is a Florida institution, and many LANCE Members grew up attending and performing in this Gainesville faire. It was, therefore, with great pride that LANCE was back to perform as Hoggetowne's Gate Guard, greeters and hecklers extraordinaire, by welcoming patrons into the faire and eliciting a chuckle or two along the way! Our cast of six were as follows: Heather Walker, AJ Harrett, TJ Cleary, Kim Welch, Ric Garcia, and Taylor Hoffmanns, with our Stage Manager, Kevin Taylor. We hope to be a part of the Hoggetowne experience again next year. |

WHERE: Cypress Grove Park, Orlando, Florida FACEBOOK PAGE LANCE Orlando geared up for our busy season with seven weeks of combat and character training! Our training schedule whipped everyone into shape, and our company strove to be an open, welcoming community for creatives, performers, and weekend warriors! Auditions for both the pirate show at the Orlando Science Center in September or the living chess match at the Orlando Renaissance Festival in December were coming up fast, and for performers who wished to have fighting roles in the show, Summer Training was huge advantage! We welcomed a ton of new people to our troupe, and even promoted one of our Trainers in Training, TJ Cleary, to Lead Trainer during Summer Training 2017! |
KING LEARWHEN: May 13th, 14th, 15th. 20th, 21st, and 22nd, 2017; Saturdays at 2:00pm, Sundays and Mondays at 7:30pm
WHERE: Osceola Arts Studio Theatre, Kissimmee, Florida FACEBOOK PAGE King Lear opens in ancient Britain, where the elderly King Lear is deciding to give up his power and divide his realm amongst his three daughters, Cordelia, Regan, and Goneril. Directed by Beau Mahurin. LANCE Trainer and stage combat veteran Charles Hale represented LANCE on King Lear's Production Team as the show's Stage Combat Choreographer. We were so excited to work with this excellent group of creatives to present one of Shakespeare's most acclaimed tragedies!
The show was truly a work of art, and both the cast and crew did an incredible job with such difficult subject matter. We look forward to working with these talented people for years to come! |
Setting the Scene
The foolish antics of the Fair Folk have been wilder than usual as the Faerie King and Queen are once again at odds with each other, leaving their subjects to run amok. Tired of being the target of faerie mischief, the humans of the realm have decided to take matters into their own hands. Hoping to rebuild peace between their peoples, Queen Titania and her courtiers are invited by the human’s leader Flynn to a grand feast. Offended at being left out, King Oberon crashes the party with his retinue. The humans have no choice but attempt to reconcile the quarreling couple in order to achieve their peace. A Feast of Fools was a great success! We not only sold out, we oversold the event, selling the seats of the no-shows to people who arrived after the event started and didn't have tickets. Congratulations to the cast and crew of A Feast of Fools on a job well done!

EVENTS IN 2016
The Orlando Renaissance FestivalWHEN: December 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 2016
WHERE: Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake, Orlando, Florida FACEBOOK EVENT The Orlando Renaissance Festival's inaugural year was a great success, and LANCE was there for all the fun! Our very first chessboard at our very first faire was a smash hit! The audience (mercifully) laughed at our corny jokes and cheered as LANCE fighters dueled for their squares. Here's a brief synopsis of the show: In Orlando, the City Beautiful, Lady Gabrielle got a lot more that she bargined for when she invited two warring houses to a festival for peace talks. Instead of reasoned discussion, King Henry VI and Queen Margaret, along with the King's powerful and soldierly brother Edmund Tudor, squared off against rebel nobles led by Richard, the Duke of York, and his clever wife Cecily in a rousing game of living chess. Our War of the Roses-themed show was one that none of us at LANCE will ever forget! We are grateful to the show's production team and to all those volunteers without whom this show would not have been possible!
We would also like to thank the event organizers, including Kira Phillips and Larry Rabin, for all of their hard work. We look forward to many years of partnership between our two companies. Every challenge is a learning opportunity, and it has been an honor to learn and grow with you. Stay tuned for more pictures and links to character descriptions, the show proposal, and more!

Thanks to Juan Diaz and Pedro Flores for the footage, and thanks to Marissa Kraatz for editing this video together! You're all amazing!

During the night, LANCE raffled off some merch and a few tickets to the festival. A good time was had by all! Special thanks to Charles Hale for taking point on organizing the evening, and thank you to all ORF2016 cast members who took time out of their busy lives to be silly and do some shameless self-promoting at The Cloak & Blaster! |
PIRATE PRESENTATIONWHEN: September 17, 2016 from 8:45am – 4:00pm
WHERE: The Orlando Science Center, Orlando, Florida FACEBOOK EVENT This was our first time working with The Orlando Science Center, and we loved the experience. Their staff was so helpful and kind to us, especially since we'd never done an event like the Pirate Presentation before. We had two shows and an information booth in a huge room filled with dinosaurs! Our show, directed by AJ Harrett, featured a retiring pirate captain and a tournament for which of the crew should take his place in the top spot. Filled with stunts, surprises, and stage combat, and played by a cast of silly sea-faring characters, this show brought delight to audience members of all ages in the Orlando Community! We'll definitely be back next year! Watch the full show below! |

Just months after the news that her parents had been killed on their way home from a festival, Lady Aurelia has been kidnapped by Lord Urster and his evil henchmen. Now, eager to secure Lady Aurelia’s lands and riches for himself, Lord Urster is forcing her to marry him in, of all places, a wayside tavern.
