WHAT DOES LANCE STAND FOR?
LANCE stands for Live Action Novelty Combat Entertainment!
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED WITH LANCE ORLANDO?
Join us! LANCE Orlando has a ton of activities including stage combat training, character workshops, and Member outings! Come to any event, introduce yourself and get involved! We're a community-oriented troupe. All are welcome!
WHAT SETS LANCE ORLANDO APART FROM OTHER ORGANIZATIONS?
LANCE Orlando is the only volunteer stage combat troupe in Orlando, Florida, which makes us unique in the strictest sense of the word, but we are also singular among other stage combat troupes in Florida because of our equal attention to what we call The Three C's: Combat, Community, and Character.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STAGE COMBAT AND LARP?
LARP, or Live Action Role Playing, is a ton of fun and a great hobby, but LANCE Orlando is not involved with LARP. LARPers perform for themselves instead of an audience. LANCE Orlando performs for an audience very much like any other stage performance. Think of it like this: When Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones is punching Nazis, it's definitely not LARP, but he's also definitely not actually punching other actors dressed as Nazis. It's stage combat, which is what we teach at LANCE Orlando!
WHAT ARE LANCE ORLANDO'S UPCOMING EVENTS?
Check out our Upcoming Events Page to see what LANCE has got cookin' for the coming months, or view our Calendar for a complete list of upcoming meetings, outings, performances, and other LANCE events!
DOES LANCE ORLANDO HOLD OPEN AUDITIONS?
Are the swords Real?
All of our swords, as well as most of our other stage combat props, are made of carbon spring steel and forged by expert craftsmen who have designed them with the explicit purpose of stage combat use.
Do people really get hurt?
Although we look and act like we are in pain, we hold safety to be our highest priority. All of our fighters have trained hard before getting to what you see. We do everything in our power to ensure everyone is safe and unharmed.
