LANCE Committees

Wondering how to join a committee? It's easy! All you have to do is contact the Committee Chair of the committee you'd like to join and let them know you're interested! You can contact Committee Chairs through Facebook, by calling (407) 906-3647 (leave a message about your interest, and be sure to include your name and phone number), or by emailing lance.orlando.info@gmail.com.

Development COMMITTEE

Development CHAIR: Currently Vacant

The Development Chair is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of LANCE’s fundraising; including special fundraising events, online donations campaigns, possible grants, corporate sponsorship and individual donations.

Specific duties of the Development Committee include:  
  • Prioritizing and evaluating plans and strategies for fundraising efforts and presenting to Board of Governors
  • Assisting any efforts to run raffles or collect donations at LANCE events and productions
  • Securing monetary and in-kind support for LANCE events and programs
  • Working on initiatives to recruit new donors
  • Working with Publicity to create content for website, social media, and LANCE blog related to fundraising efforts
  • Gathering, maintaining, and utilizing lists of donor contacts including past and potential donors for targeted outreach
  • Researching potential grants for LANCE Orlando

Documentarian

DEPUTY DOCUMENTARIAN: TJ CLEARY

The Documentarian is responsible for the creation and upkeep of LANCE's recorded history.  This includes not only photos and videos of members and events, but also scribing of fight choreography and organization of event reports.
​

Specific duties of the Documentarian Committee include:  
  • Ensuring that LANCE events are documented with photos and videos
  • Sharing recorded media with both LANCE members and the wider public in conjunction with Member Relations and Publicity
  • Backing up and archiving all LANCE media
  • Creating event report forms and sharing completed reports with the Board of Governors
  • Maintaining scribing binders, notebooks, and online choreography archives
  • Collecting items such as pictures and articles from outside sources about LANCE and its members​

The Documentarian also oversees the Chronicler of Arms, the person responsible for updating Sword for Hire, LANCE's fundraising initiative that crafts an ongoing history for weapons donated through the fundraiser. 

Member Relations Committee

Member RElations CHAIR: Bex Stubblefield

The Member Relations Chair is responsible for recruiting and retaining members as well as motivating members to contribute to LANCE’s organizational mission and goals related to promoting an active, creative community. The Member Relations Chair is in charge of promoting a positive image of the Troupe to current members.

Specific duties of the Member Relations Committee include:  
  • Initiating internal communications, including developing newsletter content, email blasts, event announcements, awareness of member status, etc.
  • Working on initiatives to recruit new members with Publicity
  • Creation and maintenance of active member community on social media
  • Updating and maintaining the Member Histories
  • Handling the execution and filing of new member paperwork with the assistance of the Secretary
  • Coordination of social activities for general membership; including outings, guilde workshops, parties, etc.
  • Advertising events and training to the membership
  • Developing member outreach strategies to encourage greater member participation in training and activities
  • Organizing and maintaining member recognition programs such as birthday/anniversary promotions
  • Assisting Secretary in ensuring members are aware of annual elections
  • Serving as primary point of contact for members and providing assistance as needed to service member requests

Publicity COMMITTEE

Publicity CHAIR: Olivia Lanham

The Publicity Chair is responsible for promoting a positive image of LANCE Orlando to the general public by creating promotional materials and cultivating media relations. The Publicity Chair shall act as chief administrator on all outward facing social media sites for the Troupe.

​Specific duties of the Publicity Committee include:  
  • Design, production and distribution of all marketing materials  
  • Contacting the local newspapers and various media outlets about upcoming events
  • Advertising events and training to the general public
  • Working with Member Relations on initiatives to recruit new members
  • Creating an active community on social platforms to engage the general public and raise awareness about the Troupe and its activities
  • Appointing a Webmaster to ensure that the LANCE Orlando website is functioning properly and work with the Board of Governors to apply content to the website
  • Developing community outreach and opportunities for LANCE to impact the community through service projects
  • Creating content for website, social media, and LANCE blog
  • Gathering, maintaining, and utilizing lists of media contacts and past and potential members for targeted outreach
  • Coordinating with Documentarian for promotional photos and video
  • Working with Production Teams to advertise upcoming auditions and shows to the public.

Quartermaster

Quartermaster: Kyle Clemens

The Quartermaster is in charge of inventory, organization, maintenance and storage of weapons, costumes, props, and other equipment used in training and performances, whether borrowed or owned by LANCE.
Specific duties of the Quartermaster Committee include:
  • Keeping detailed inventories of all of LANCE’s physical assets
  • Ensuring that troupe weapons are present at training, rehearsals, and shows
  • Working with Safety and Training in maintaining the integrity of all weapons used by the Troupe for the safety of LANCE members
  • Repairing damaged weapons or equipment
  • Tracking when assets are borrowed, lent, or rented out
  • Organizing a yearly equipment assessment to clean and examine all LANCE equipment and weapons
  • Making sure that adequate storage is provided and maintained for LANCE assets
  • Ordering weapons and other necessary items for LANCE​

SAFETY COMMITTEE

SAFETY CHAIR: Ash Stella

The Safety Chair is responsible for the general safety and well-being of LANCE members at training and events. The Safety Chair must be a Lead Combat Trainer.

Specific duties of the Safety Committee include:
  • Creation and maintenance of safety standards for the Troupe in collaboration with Training
  • Working with Quartermaster and Training to maintain the integrity of all LANCE properties, ensure the safety of training spaces, and other safety concerns as needed
  • Upkeep of all safety equipment and materials
  • Checking the safety of performance and training spaces
  • Ensuring all safety equipment is present at LANCE training and events, including but not limited to First Aid Kit(s), water, and safety paperwork
  • Filling out Accident Reports and filing with the Secretary

TRAINING COMMITTEE

TRAINING CHAIR: Ric Garcia

The Training Chair is in charge of creating, amending, and implementing the training curriculum for the Troupe. This includes the training of general members and trainers as well - both for combat and character. The Training Chair also works with the Quartermaster to acquire the weapons and practical items necessary for training. The Training Chair must be a Lead Combat Trainer. The Training Committee will consist of all Lead Trainers and Apprentice Trainers.

Specific duties of the Training Committee include:
  • Creating and maintaining training curricula for LANCE
  • Working with Safety and Quartermaster to ensure that training events are both safe and properly supplied
  • Selecting members to become Apprentice Trainers, training them, and matching them with classes
  • Designing the training schedule
  • Keeping up with LANCE members’ progress in their training
  • Assisting the fight directors for events in training specific performers for their roles
  • Booking and upkeep of training locations
